How to administer

  1. 1Set up two lines exactly 20 metres apart.
  2. 2Play the official 20m PACER / Beep Test audio.
  3. 3Students run from one line to the other, arriving at or after each beep.
  4. 4A student is out after two consecutive failures to reach the line in time.
  5. 5Record total laps (shuttles) completed.

Equipment

  • Two parallel lines 20m apart
  • Audio source for the beep cadence
  • Stopwatch backup

Common mistakes to watch for

  • Starting before the first beep — wait for the cadence.
  • Pivoting before the line — toes must touch or cross.
  • Counting partial shuttles. Only completed 20m runs count.
